Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is a clinical psychologist?
A clinical psychologist is a mental health professional that has been highly trained to a doctoral level of education. Clinical psychologists are comprehensively trained in a wide range of psychological models and theories, which means they might draw on several different therapeutic or psychological concepts in their work with people. The professional title of ‘clinical psychologist’ is protected, which means you can only call yourself a clinical psychologist if you have completed the required training and you remain registered with our profession’s regulatory body – the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). If you would like to work with someone who is using the title of clinical psychologist, you can check if they are registered with the HCPC by utilising the search function on the HCPC website.
What are your services?
I offer 1:1 psychological therapy to adults aged 18+. Sessions are offered either online or face to face on Mondays. My clinic space is based in West Lancashire.
What are your fees?
Therapy sessions are up to 60 minutes long and are charged at £120 per hour. For cancellations made with fewer than 24 hours' notice, a full session charge will apply. Cancellations made with 24 to 48 hours' notice will incur a charge of 50% of the session rate. This policy applies to face-to-face, online, or telephone sessions.
Do you accept health insurance?
I work with self-funding clients and I am also a registered provider with Bupa and WPA health insurance.
Is therapy confidential?
The information you share with me in therapy is kept private and confidential. The only exceptions to this relate to concerns that indicate you or other people may be at risk of harm, where I may need to share information with other professionals as part of my duty of care towards you and others. We will go through confidentiality in more detail before and during our first session, so that you know exactly how this applies to our work together. I will always aim to discuss any such issues with you as they arise in a transparent and clear way.

What happens after I make an enquiry?
After you have made an enquiry, you have the option to arrange a free 15 minute telephone discussion with me so that you can learn more about how I work, and to help you make a decision about whether you would like to book an initial appointment with me. If you decide you want to proceed with booking an initial appointment, I will send you further information including my terms and conditions, GDPR, data protection and privacy policies and collect some basic information from you. This means that we can work safely and professionally together. We will then agree a time and date for your initial appointment.
